Labradorite (Spectrolite) History, Lore, Facts, Myths and Pictures

 

Spectrolite, the most valued type of  labradorite, comes from Finland. The name is derived from Labrador, Canada which is the main source of the stone.

It is a feldspar which displays strong iridescence when cut correctly and the value increases with the skill of the lapidary and the strength of the labradorescense.  It is a 6-6.5 on the Mohs' scale.

Folklore:  

Brings forth each person's strengths, originality, aids  sleep, relate to others.
