Hindu Birthstones
* The Curious Lore of Precious Stones by George Frederick Kunz
(1913) lists Serpent stone as the Hindu birthstone for January,
Chandrakanta as the Hindu birthstone for February, and The gold
Siva-linga as the Hindu birthstone for March. Although I have done
considerable research about birthstones, I have yet to discover
conclusively what the modern names for Serpent stone and Siva-linga
might be. Chandrakanta comes from the Tamil language and the modern
equvalent is moonstone.
